Beachcombing
Walk, Surf, or Ride a Complimentary Bike
The Beachcomber Inn is a short walk to Asilomar State Beach and Spanish Bay. We're talking yards here. Any season, there are surfers in the water, bikers on the bike path (don't forget, the Beachcomber provides complimentary bikes for your enjoyment), golfers on the green, walkers on the path, and everyone is having fun, relaxing, enjoying all that Nature's Bounty provides here on the Monterey Peninsula.
Beach Activities
Tide pools and sandy beaches, otters and seals, seagulls and pelicans, the wind in your hair... Life is pretty good here. Beach fun may include - a morning run, picnics, vollyball, marshmellow roasts, stargazing, and of course, beachcombing. Artists, bring your easels. Kids bring your kites. People come back to The Beachcomber year after year, because it is casual, relaxing, and puts you back in tune with nature.
Create a sand castle, and be sure to check out our wild life conservation on our adjacent boardwalk.
Architecture and History
If you are interested in architecture, you might wander over across the street to the Asilomar Conference Grounds, designed by well known architect Julia Morgan in the 1930's. This is a beautiful old representation of her work and survives today as a thriving center for new ideas and rejuvenation. If you are interested in lighthouses, you can amble further north to historic Point Pinos Lighthouse. Professor Peter Pelican says "This makes a perfect picture postcard."
And don't forget those sunsets. Ahhhh. Professor Peter and family know the place to stay!
